Privacy Policy - Learn Islam

Welcome to Learn Islam. This privacy policy explains how our mobile app handles your information, what permissions we use, and how we protect your privacy. Your trust is important to us, and we are committed to being transparent about how our app works.

1. Data Collection

We do not collect any personal data (such as your name, email address, phone number, or location). The app is designed to respect your privacy while providing a rich Islamic learning experience. Any information processed stays on your device or is handled anonymously by third-party services as described below.

2. Permissions We Use (Why & When)

The Learn Islam app requires the following permissions to function properly. We only access them when needed, and we explain the exact scenario below:

  • INTERNET – Why: To keep the app online and load content.
    When: Whenever the app is open, to load Islamic content (Surahs, Duas, Hadith), stream audio, and display advertisements.
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE – Why: To check your device's internet connection status.
    When: Before attempting to load any online content or ads, so we can avoid errors and reduce unnecessary data usage when offline.
  • WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE – Why: To save app-related files on your device.
    When: Only when you explicitly download or export content (e.g., saving a PDF, Islamic calendar, or audio file for offline listening). We only write to app-specific folders and never read your personal photos, documents, or files outside our app.
  • RECORD_AUDIO – Why: To enable voice search within the app.
    When: Only when you tap the voice search button. We do NOT record audio in the background, nor do we store, upload, or share your voice recordings. Your speech is processed locally by your device's speech recognizer or Google Voice Search, and the result is used only to find content within Learn Islam.
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE – Why: To play Islamic audio (Hamd, Naat, Manqabat, etc.) while you use other apps.
    When: When you play an audio track and navigate away from the app. A persistent notification will clearly show that audio is playing, and you can stop it anytime.

3. Google Advertising ID (AD_ID)

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may use the Advertising ID (AD_ID) provided by Google Play services to serve personalized or non-personalized ads based on your interests and app usage patterns. You have control over this:

  • You can reset your Advertising ID anytime in your device's Google Settings → Ads.
  • You can opt out of ad personalization by enabling "Opt out of Ads Personalization" in the same settings menu.

We do not collect or store your Advertising ID directly.

4. Third-Party Services

Currently, Learn Islam uses the following trusted third-party service:

These services may collect anonymized data such as device type, IP address, Android version, and interaction with ads to improve ad relevance and performance. They are bound by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Note: We do not currently use Facebook Audience Network, but if we add it in the future, this policy will be updated before the feature is released.

5. Children's Privacy

Our app is family-friendly and designed for users of all ages, including children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has accidentally provided any personal data through a third-party ad network, please contact us immediately, and we will take appropriate steps to remove that information.

6. Data Security

We do not store any personal data on our own servers. All data collected by third-party ad providers is subject to their security measures. We recommend keeping your device updated and only downloading content from trusted sources.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect changes in our app, permissions, or legal requirements. The latest version will always be available within the app. Updates will be posted here with a revised "Effective Date". By continuing to use Learn Islam after changes are made, you agree to the updated policy.
